Last weekend, we took a the quick 30km drive south to the ruins of Villers Abbey, in Villers-a-Ville, Belgium. I'd heard that it was a fantistic place to explore and it didn't disappoint! It was a stop for pilgrims 800 years ago and was in working service until the French Revolution destroyed it in the late 1700's. It's erie beauty is striking and it's perfect for the kids to run around and ask lots of questions about it's past.
It's interesting to think that this is what Nortre Dam or St Paul's in London might look like had they not been restored after various hardships/bombings/wars, etc..
Enough of the history lesson.. how about a peek?
Villers Abbey.
